The King Midas and the golden touch

Once upon a time, there was a king. The name of the king was Midas.

He was extremely fond of gold. At that time he was richer than all other kings. Because he had more gold than any other king in the world.

He used to say, "I wish I had the golden touch. Then I'd be the happiest man in the whole world." He used to pray to god for this power. So, God granted his wish promptly.

One day he was sitting under an apple tree in his garden. Suddenly a ripe apple fell beside him. As he touched it, it turned in gold.

He was very surprised. He couldn't believe his eyes. He said to himself," What is happening?  This is real or not?" Then he understood that he got the power which he was wanting.

The Golden Touch

Then he was overjoyed. Then he touches his chair and in an instant, the chair turns in gold

He exclaimed, "I am the happiest man in the world."

He went back to the palace. When he entered the palace his daughter ran up to him. He took her in the arms. At once his daughter turns into gold.

The king cried out" I am terribly sorry, I made that wish. How foolish I am! God Please forgave me. I don't want the power. Please bring my daughter back."

Then God took the power of the golden touch away and his daughter became human again.

The king realizes his mistake and he was thankful to god.

What is the moral of the story?

This story proves that greed always brings disaster.
