Unity is Strength

Once there was an old farmer in a village. He had four sons. They were illiterate. Every day they used to quarrel among themselves. This made the farmer very anxious. He wanted to teach them a good lesson.

So one day he asked his sons to his bed. He said “It seems to me that I would die very soon. If you always quarrel with one another you will come to sorrow in life.” But the sons didn’t listen to him.

Unity is Strength

Some days later he again saw that his sons were quarreling. He hits upon a plan to rectify his sons.

He asked them to bring some sticks. They did so. Then he told them to tie them in a bundle. Then he told them to break the bundle of sticks one by one. They tried but couldn’t break the bundle of sticks. Now the farmer told them to untie the bundle and break the stick one by one. This time they could break the sticks easily.

The farmer then said “Remember, unity is strength. You are just like sticks. You could not break the bundle of sticks. But you could break it separately. If you are united, nobody will be able to harm you. But if you are divided anybody can harm you.”

The sons understood their mistake and promised to follow their father's advice.

What is the moral of the story?

The moral of the story is If I work together in ten, I am not ashamed to lose or win. In our daily life, we face any problems but if we try to solve it together the problem might be solved.
